David Barboza and Claire Cain Miller have written a short but interesting article entitled “Google Accuses Chinese of Blocking Gmail Service” in the Technology section of The New York Times, looking into “disruptions” in the Gmail service in China which Google states are part of  “a government blockage, carefully designed to look like the problem is with Gmail.”  A never-ending battle?

Posted by the editors on Saturday, 10 April 2010

Claire Cain Miller has written a short article entitled “Twitter Acquires Atebits, Maker of Tweetie” in the Bits blog of the Technology section of The New York Times (online) which looks at Twitter’s move into producing its own apps, Twitter clients and other Twitter tools.  Twitter’s move will certainly have serious implications for independent apps developers as well as implications for the Twitter user community.  Of course, Twitter is not alone in its vertical integration quest, nor in its desire to increase its own control of its presence in the consumer marketplace.
