The wonderful critic Roberta Smith has written an article, a review of sorts, entitled “What’s True in Art Studios and Onstage” in the Art & Design section of The New York Times discussing her own very personal memories of formative visits to artists’ studios at the beginning of her career and, as catalyst, in a way, the 2 actor, one act play “Red” by John Logan, based on a “slice” of the life of the magnificent abstract expressionist (though he rejected this nomenclature) painter Mark Rothko.  Smith’s candor is marvelous.
