Battle Royale poster

Battle Royale (2000) (DVD) directed by Kinji Fukasaku with Tatsuya Fujiwara, Aki Maeda, Taro Yamamoto, Takeshi Kitano and others.  This alternative-future Japanese violent action/horror film, Kinji Fukasaku’s last complete film, based on Koushun Takami’s 1999 novel of the same name, stirred significant controversy even prior to its release, with the Japanese legislature calling it harmful to teenagers.  Its near manga-style acting may not be to everyone’s liking, but Quentin Tarantino called it, in 2009, his favorite film released since he began directing in 1992. (!!) (PR)

We recommend that you buy your DVDs.  Have a wonderful personal film library..
