Pride and Prejudice

Posted by the editors on Wednesday, 2 February 2011

Pride and Prejudice, (DVD), 2006 (Though the mini-series dates from 1995), (5 hours of stiffly agreeable amusement!) Based on Jane Austen’s novel , directed by Simon Langton, with Colin Firth (The King’s Speech) and Jennifer Ehle.  Firth’s darkly handsome excessive pride is, as one would imagine, truly winning, as is the sharp twinkle in Jennifer Ehle’s lovely eyes and tenderly sparkling smile.  The costumes are delightfully silly and restrictive, as, of course, are the attitudes and mores.  Led through trials and tribulations as we are, we can only be joyfully relieved as they live, yes, happily ever after.  How wondrous!  Let’s say how grateful we are to Firth and Ehle, and simply, bless Jane Austen. (PR)

We recommend that you buy your DVDs and Blu-ray disks.  Have a wonderful personal film library..
